Dyneema® ropes are made from Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene, or UHMWPE fibers. The end result is a rope that can be up to 15 times stronger than steel and up to 40% stronger than Kevlar. Dyneema ropes are more abrasion resistant than high carbon steel, are resistant to UV light and they float! They also have much less stretch than nylon or Dacron lines. They are great for most sailboat lines, mooring lines, tow and winch lines.
There are different grades of Dyneema available. Dyneema® SK75 for many years the strongest Dyneema grade and the standard material used in most high-end sailboat lines. Dyneema®SK78 is newer and has the same strength as SK75 but offers significantly improved creep characteristics.
